About Melbourne, Guide and Top Tourist Attractions
(Melbourne, Victoria - VIC, Australia)

Melbourne is one of Australia's largest cities with a population of more than three million people. It is one of the most appealing places to live and work because of its relatively low cost of living, solid infrastructure, and cultural diversity.

What to do in Melbourne

Melbourne is a major tourist hotspot. The summer season in Australia is in November and December, and visitors can go to Melbourne's beautiful beaches and surfing locations further afield. Pubs, bars, shopping malls, and arcades are located all over the city centre. There are excellent sports facilities and plenty of park areas, such as the Botanical Gardens, and Yarra River precinct, ideal for exercise. St Kilda is the main entertainment area of the city, with a lovely seaside appeal to it.

Tourist Attractions

Visitors and locals can tour the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gardens. It is home to more than 3,000 species of wildlife and welcomes an average of 10 million guests a year. Art lovers can visit the National Gallery of Victoria that features an impressive collection of the works of poet-artist William Blake. When in season, sports fans can get tickets to see the Australian Grand Prix or the Australian Open. The Australian Grand Prix features some of the top Formula 1 drivers and the fastest cars in the world. The Australian Open is one of the Four Majors of tennis and commonly draws the biggest names in the sport.

Several excellent museums are found in the city, and a stroll around some of the historic suburbs also gives a sense of the city's rich heritage. For an excellent presentation on Melbourne and birdseye views, the Rialto Towers experience is a must.
